Darkness shall fly away
Through earthly portals.
She brings such wonderful
words to us mortals!
Daylight, again renewed,
will rise, all rosy-hued!
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!
Daylight, again renewed,
will rise, all rosy-hued.
Sankta Lucia! Sankta Lucia!
An old Lucia tradition
In accordance with Middle Ages tradition a young
unmarried girl can come to see her fiancé, if she on
the Lucia evening places herself in front of a mirror
addressing Lucia with the following verse:
Lucia the soft shall let me know
Whose cloth I shall spread
Whose bed I shall make
Whose child I shall carry
Whose bride I shall be
With honour.
