Lucia became engage, and her decision to live a
convent life therefore caused the coming bridegroom
to miss out on not only a young bride with beautiful
eyes but also a considerable dowry.
The angry fiancé therefore informed against her to the
local governor. The charge was that she was a
Christian, who at that time was considered a criminal
offence, and the sentence was hard:
As her ideal the holy Agatha was doomed to be put in
a brothel, where she through active service should
atone for her punishment. However it showed up that
not even 10 strong men and four oxen could move her.
Judge Paschasius therefore decided that right where
she stood, there should be build a fire around her. The
fire was build, she was smeared with pitch and resin
and poured with oil, and the fire was lid, but it
wouldn't harm her.
In desperation Paschasius seized his sword and put it
through Lucia's' neck, who finally died as a Christian
martyr on December the 13'Th the year 304 only 13-
14 years old.
Later on the legend arised that a prince wanted to
have her, when he saw her beautiful eyes. The young
girl received the message, and she answered:
